CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2001

Oce CS5090 Printer expands color gamut,

features quick printing, drying and ink flexibility

Oce, a global leader in digital document management and delivery technology, announced the release of the Oce CS5090 Large Format Color Inkjet Printer, available in 42" or 60" print width. The printer houses 8 print heads, allowing several flexible ink usage configurations based on customer needs: (1) two identical CMYK ink sets for printing twice as fast as existing product offerings, (2) two different CMYK ink sets for rapid switching between indoor and outdoor inks, and (3) an 8 color ink set that will offer a choice of spot colors or additional shades of cyan and magenta ink.

The Oce CS5090 also features a dynamic thermal drying system, which constantly adjusts for temperature and humidity, applying the right amount of heat to the drying process to allow for the faster output. In addition, with the increased number of print heads, cyan and magenta dilutions can be added to provide smoother color gradations for better pastels and flesh tones, and the spot colors offer a wider color gamut that rivals true photographic quality. The option to utilize light cyan/magenta and medium cyan/magenta optimizes this process.

Advanced technology eliminates the need to flush the lines between ink changes - saving time and supply usage to the end user. The new printer is optimal for posters, corporate signs and banners, backlit signs, and images with many details and /or specific spot colors in the orange, red and green zones.

"Oce is pleased to offer a product that delivers real bottom-line business benefits to our customers in the display graphics industry," says Mal Baboyian, Chief Operating Officer of Oce-USA, Inc. "The increased flexibility of this product eliminates the need for users to utilize two different printers to handle the jobs this one printer can manage alone."

Some of the key features of the Oce CS5090 printer are:

- Ability to print with all 8 colors simultaneously;

- Ability to print fast in the best quality mode;

- 42" or 60" printer width;

- Dynamic thermal drying system;

- Auto take up and paper sensor;

- Multiple ink sets that can be used at the touch of a button;

- No need to change ink hose and ink head for indoor vs. outdoor inks;
