SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2001

iBEAM Broadcasting(R) Corp. (Nasdaq:IBEM), the leading provider of streaming communications solutions, has teamed up with SportsLine.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPLN), the leading global Internet sports media company and publisher of CBS SportsLine.com (cbs.sportsline.com), to provide the streaming of live and on-demand coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, which began play on March 15 and finishes with the national championship game in Minneapolis on April 2.

iBEAM is utilizing its hybrid fiber-satellite streaming media network to stream live game audio of all tournament games and on-demand video highlights, following each day's action on CBS SportsLine.com. Traffic through the tournament's first weekend was high, as SportsLine.com received approximately 141 million page views during the first two days, which included the streaming content provided via iBEAM.

"iBEAM's partnership with SportsLine for the 2001 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship illustrates the importance of streaming media to sports fans," said Peter Desnoes, iBEAM chairman, CEO and president. "We consistently prove that our network can handle the large demands of worldwide audiences and therefore, have been selected to stream some of this year's most successful sporting events, such as the Super Bowl, pgatour.com's 'Live@17' and this year's NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, including the upcoming Final Four."

iBEAM previously worked with SportsLine.com on its production of the NFL's official Super Bowl XXXV site, SUPERBOWL.COM, providing high-quality audio and video streams.

"Our visitors have come to expect a reliable, high-quality user experience on CBS SportsLine.com during the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship that includes not only the latest scores, news and statistics, but content such as audio and video highlights," said of Joe Ferreira, vice president, programming for SportsLine.com. "SportsLine.com is committed to continuing to lead the pack in providing quality broadband content to enhance its users' experience and when we worked with iBEAM for SUPERBOWL.COM, we were extremely pleased with the results and user feedback."

The iBEAM network utilizes satellite and fiber-optic technologies to deliver content to MaxCaster(TM) media serving systems located in access providers' networks closest to the end-user, on the edge of the Internet. iBEAM's approach allows streams to bypass much of the Internet congestion and bottlenecking that frequently causes interruption and poor quality with audio and video.
