COMDEX Chicago 2001
STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 28, 2001
META Group Inc. (Nasdaq:METG), a leading information technology (IT) research and consulting firm, today announced that Jack Gold, META Group's vice president of Mobile & Pervasive Computing, will chair a special panel on this topic at COMDEX 2001 in Chicago.
The panel discussion, titled "Synchronization: Connecting PC and Non-PC Devices," will run from 10:15 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday, April 4, the second day of this premier event.
The panel discussion will explore the need for enterprises to build a synchronization strategy for the impending proliferation of non-PC devices that will flood the market during the next two to three years. According to Gold, we will soon see the number of non-PC devices overtake traditional PC devices, as knowledge workers continue to demand instantaneous connectivity to the Internet, intranets, and enterprise servers.
"In the very near future, most people will begin carrying multiple devices -- such as a cell phone, PDA (personal digital assistant), or another device yet to hit the market -- rather than a single, converged device," said Gold. "For enterprises that fail to develop a corporatewide device management strategy, the trials in synchronizing these multiple devices will be immense. This panel discussion is designed specifically to help these enterprises avoid that pitfall."
The COMDEX Buyer's Guide -- Spring 2001
Attendees of this year's COMDEX in Chicago will also benefit from a number of articles by META Group analysts in the spring 2001 issue of The COMDEX Buyer's Guide. The articles will offer business and technology executives keen insight from META Group's thought-leaders, on topics ranging from Net markets, to networking, to CRM, to enterprise security -- all with the reliably objective focus that is META Group's hallmark.
According to Dale Kutnick -- META Group chairman, CEO, and co-research director and author of the Buyer's Guide introduction letter -- IT and business managers are clamoring for this insight to help them navigate through the marketing hype about IT innovations and solutions. "With the rise and fall of the dot-com era behind us, business leaders must find a balance between strengthening their traditional business fundamentals and exploiting the hybrid business models that have recently emerged -- all while focusing on significantly reducing costs," said Kutnick. "We're excited to offer this guidance to attendees through this year's Buyer's Guide."
