DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 2001
EXE Technologies' EXceed(TM) Software Expected To Help UTi Worldwide
Increase Warehousing Productivity and Inventory Accuracy and Provide
Customers With End-To-End Product Visibility
EXE Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:EXEE), announced today that UTi Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq:UTIW) (UTi), a leading global supply chain solutions provider, has gone live with EXE's EXceed(TM) fulfillment, warehousing and distribution software. UTi expects to achieve substantial improvements in warehousing productivity, inventory accuracy and the ability to provide its customers with end-to-end visibility of their product in the supply chain.
"We looked at 52 different software vendors to replace our homegrown fulfillment system, and EXE distinguished itself from the pack," said Rick Anchan, UTi's senior vice president for Global Processes. "First, the maturity of EXE's products and their high level of internal integration provides us with optimum productivity improvements and the ability to offer our customers the opportunity to see where their order is in the supply chain. Second, EXE was able to support our current Oracle on UNIX operating environment. The company has done a great job of supporting us during the implementation process. We just went live at our first site in Australia and intend to implement EXceed in additional warehouses around the world throughout 2001."
UTi, an information focused, non asset-based supply chain management company, provides freight forwarding, customs brokerage, order management and postponement warehousing services. The company's customers consist of multinational, regional and local businesses conducting commerce in every significant trading region of the world. UTi has over 200 company-owned offices in 46 countries, staffed by more than 5,600 skilled, experienced professionals.
"There are several areas in which EXE will help us provide additional value to our customers," Anchan continued. "The high level of integration within EXE's products helps us improve picking and placing productivity. Their performance measurement tools assist in customer retention by helping to document the additional value that we are providing to our customers. EXE's ability to support a global implementation will make it possible for us to achieve a high level of integration throughout our warehouse network."
"The need for superior outsourced logistics processes continues to rise. It is estimated that a quarter of every sales dollar is spent on fulfillment, and this number could be higher for newer e-commerce business models," stated Ray Hood, president and CEO of EXE Technologies. "This implementation further demonstrates EXE's ability to meet the needs of leading outsourced logistics companies in the global supply chain outsourcing field."
