theglobe.com's Computer Games Magazine, part of theglobe.com games network (http://games.theglobe.com) has announced the winners for its annual awards honoring the best in computer game entertainment.
Fox Interactive's "No One Lives Forever" tops the list of winners as "Game Of the Year" and "Action Game Of The Year."
Set in a swinging '60s, "No One Lives Forever" stars the cat-suited "Operative" Cate Archer, a former thief turned agent for secret spy outfit UNITY who is battling an organization called H.A.R.M. The game was rewarded for being full of surprises and twists and for featuring a thoroughly refreshing setting, varied gameplay, superb dialogue and voice acting, and for being the most entertaining game in ages.
Descriptions of all the winning games and a list of the finalists in the fifteen categories is featured in the April issue of Computer Games Magazine to hit newsstands March 6. The magazine will also include winners in irreverent categories such as the "Worst Games Of The Year," "Biggest Disaster We All Saw Coming," "Best Worst Fighting Game," "Best Waste of 90 Minutes" and "Most Like To Be Blamed For Poor Earnings." Finally, CGM predicts the standout games for the year 2001.
"The first year of the new millennium was an interesting year for computer games, with some traditional styles falling out of favor and being replaced with new hybrid games that mix the old and new," said Steve Bauman, editor, Computer Games Magazine. "We'd like to congratulate all recipients of this year's awards, particularly the team from Monolith Productions that created 'No One Lives Forever', the year's most vivid game, both in a literal and figurative sense."
