NIC (Nasdaq:EGOV):
The Nation's Largest Government Information Portal Now Features NIC's
Comprehensive State Government Database
NIC (Nasdaq:EGOV), the world's leading eGovernment provider, today announced that its state government information and services have launched on America Online's enhanced GovernmentGuide, the nation's No. 1 government information portal for consumers.
The new GovernmentGuide 2.0 incorporates NIC's extensive state information and services database into its existing federal and local government content, providing the most accurate and user-friendly interface to information and services at all levels of government. NIC assembled over 26,000 unique state government links for the enhanced GovernmentGuide, making it the most comprehensive single Internet site for state government information in existence. NIC has also built a number of navigational wizards for the Citizen Toolbox that provide shortcuts to finding services and taking care of everyday tasks, significantly enhancing the user experience.
America Online's GovernmentGuide 2.0 is the most comprehensive listing of federal, state and local government information, resources and services online. GovernmentGuide services are provided free, so all Americans can use the power of the Information Age to improve their daily lives. GovernmentGuide is accessible through AOL Keyword: Government and on the Web at www.governmentguide.com. Other America Online brands, including CompuServe, Netscape and AOL Digital City, will also carry GovernmentGuide.
"GovernmentGuide has been successful because we organize government information according to the needs of citizens," said Kathleen deLaski, AOL's Director of Political and Government Programming. "Thanks to the 26,000 state government links supplied by our partners at NIC, GovernmentGuide users will benefit by having a far more comprehensive array of state, local, and federal government information at their fingertips."
"NIC is proud to have our state government information and navigation tools integrated into the redesign of GovernmentGuide," stated Alan Cobb, General Manager of NIC's Strategic Web Properties Group. "GovernmentGuide links users directly to the state officials and agencies they seek, which means accessing government services is now as easy as checking your email. As eGovernment rapidly evolves and more applications go online every day, we continue to integrate new content to GovernmentGuide. With the tools we have built, users are delivered to popular interactive applications such as driver's license renewal and electronic tax filing with a few clicks of a mouse."
