World's Largest Paper and Forest Products Company Turns

to webMethods for Enterprise, Mainframe and B2B Integration

webMethods, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBM), the leading provider of integration software, today announced the company has been selected to provide the enterprise-wide integration platform for International Paper (NYSE:IP). International Paper selected webMethods as the company's integration standard, following head-to-head competition with numerous integration vendors.

"International Paper's enterprise systems require powerful integration software flexible enough to meet our demanding need to automate supply chain processes. webMethods' technology will connect us quickly and easily with our customers and suppliers via the Web," said J. Chris Scalet, senior vice president and chief information officer for Information Technology at International Paper. "This technology provides the capability to offer integration solutions to our customers around the world."

Currently, International Paper uses packaged applications from a variety of vendors as well as mainframes and custom applications. The webMethods integration platform will connect the various systems throughout International Paper's numerous global businesses to a central IT infrastructure, allowing for easier management of internal applications. International Paper will begin its integration initiatives by connecting applications within the company. Then, future initiatives will extend connectivity to create direct connections to customers, suppliers and industry exchanges.

"As a leader in its industry and a Fortune 100 company, International Paper is a significant win for webMethods," said David Mitchell, president and chief operating officer of webMethods, Inc. "We are pleased that following a rigorous selection process webMethods came out on top. We look forward to helping International Paper streamline operations, reduce inventory and increase business efficiencies simply by allowing its current IT systems to collaborate effectively."
