theglobe.com (OTCBB:TGLO), home of leading games information network games.theglobe.com (http://games.theglobe.com) has teamed up with the Computer Systems Group (CSG) of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. to leverage the power of games at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which takes place in Los Angeles on May 17-19.
As part of Toshiba's previously announced multi-media campaign with theglobe.com to target gamers with their new Satellite(R) 2805 Series notebooks, Toshiba is sponsoring Happy Puppy's Golden Fire Hydrant Awards, where readers choose their favorite games of the year in 16 categories. The winners of the awards are now posted live on the Happy Puppy site (see list of winners below). A representative of each winning game will be presented with an award, co-branded with the Happy Puppy and Toshiba logos, at E3.
Toshiba has also partnered with theglobe.com to use E3 as a live platform to demonstrate its Satellite 2805-S402 notebook series to the largest gaming audience in the world. The demonstrations, which will take place in the games.theglobe.com E3 booth (#2608), will show gamers first-hand how the notebook delivers the blazing multi-media and sizzling visual effects of a desktop machine with the mobility of a portable computer.
"We believe games are poised to become the leading form of entertainment in the 21st century," said Chuck Peck, chief executive officer, theglobe.com. "Toshiba, like other well-known hardware providers, also recognizes the tremendous growth potential of the already sizeable games sector and has implemented an aggressive strategy--which includes partnering with leading games companies like theglobe.com--to capture their share of this valuable market."
"games.theglobe.com is well-poised to capitalize on the expected explosive growth in the games industry--estimated by CMP Game Media Group to be a $9 billion industry and the fastest-growing segment of the entertainment market," Peck added. "We are pleased to support Toshiba's entry into this rapidly growing space by creating and producing an effective, wide-reaching marketing solution both on and offline and we look forward to partnering with other leading consumer brand companies that are eager to tap into games.theglobe.com's highly targeted audience base."
"We are delighted to be a sponsor of the Happy Puppy Awards honoring excellence in games and we'd like to extend our congratulations to the game and hardware companies, developers and publishers behind all the winning games," said Steve Andler, vice president of marketing, Toshiba CSG. "Our alliance with theglobe.com has helped facilitate our aggressive entry into the gaming arena through our sponsorship of the awards and demonstration of our Satellite 2805 Series geared toward gamers on the go with one of the largest gaming audiences in the world."
