SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 16, 2001
ViAir, Inc., a mobile applications management and delivery platform provider for wireless carriers, today announced its carrier-class messaging applications, deployed by major carriers in North America, are now available in multiple languages worldwide.
ViAir designed its technology to be delivered in any language, including double-byte languages, such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean, in as little as three weeks. It is currently deployed in English, French, and French Canadian on a wide range of networking technologies and Web-enabled devices. Carriers have the flexibility to set the default delivery language by country and give end-users the ability to select their viewing language of choice.
The company also announced that it appointed Ken Cooper as its European general manager. Cooper, who brings more than 17 years of management and executive-level experience to ViAir, will be responsible for heading up the company's European headquarters and driving sales and operations throughout Europe.
"We recently launched our European headquarters and are already in active discussions with major carriers across Europe who are very interested in our technology and ability to deliver services in any local language," said Bruce Chatterley, chief executive officer, ViAir. "We are very pleased to have Ken on board. His extensive knowledge of the European marketplace and proven track record are critical to firmly establishing ViAir as a key partner in building the wireless Internet across Europe."
Cooper formerly served as vice president and general manager for the Europe/Middle East/Asia region for Concur Technologies' UK office. Prior to Concur, Cooper played a key role in the European growth of Platinum Software Corporation (now Epicor) as vice president of European operations. With more than 17 years of management- and director-level experience, Cooper brings to ViAir a critical blend of experience managing the growth of global IT companies, as well as an extensive knowledge of the European marketplace.
ViAir's mobile applications platform fully integrates with carriers' networks, giving them the ability to quickly roll out privately branded applications and services to their customers. Built on ViAir's flexible platform, WirelessInbox(TM) and WirelessInbox(TM) Enterprise are the first carrier-class messaging applications that enable carriers to provide their customers with direct access to existing corporate and Internet email, calendar and contacts from any Web-enabled device on any network, driving adoption and daily use of the wireless Web. This powerful combination gives carriers the ability to generate an immediate return on investment by gaining immediate access to corporate and consumer traffic.
ViAir's European office is located at 268 Bath Road in Slough Berkshire, SL1 4DX United Kingdom. For more information on ViAir or its European offerings call 44 (0) 1753 708 800 or e-mail infoemea@viair.com.
