HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 2, 2001
BindView Corporation (NASDAQ: BVEW), a leading provider of IT security management solutions, today announced the addition of Edward L. Pierce as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company. Pierce joins BindView with 23 years of financial management experience, most recently at Metamor Worldwide, Inc., a global information technology company, where he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer.
At BindView, Pierce will oversee all elements of the company's finances in addition to managing the investor relations and IT functions. He will augment the executive team with his in-depth experience working in a high growth technology environment and will influence the company's strategy to extend its leadership position in the security market.
"Ed's well-rounded background has just the right mix of operational expertise and strategic thinking," stated Rick Gardner, president and CEO of BindView. "In his prior roles, he was a key player in influencing and managing profitable growth. This experience will be invaluable as BindView works toward its goals of increasing its market share, profitability and shareholder value in the security market."
As Metamor's executive vice president and chief financial officer, Pierce executed a robust acquisition strategy and internal growth program evolving the company into a high tech service organization. In its last full year of operation, Metamor achieved $577 million in sales and more than $32 million in profit. The company was sold in June 2000 to PSINet in a transaction valued at approximately $1.9 billion. Prior to Metamor, Pierce held several roles including five years as corporate controller and chief accounting officer for American Oil and Gas Corporation and more than 10 years as a senior manager at Arthur Andersen Co. Throughout his career, Pierce has been actively involved in growing companies, both organically as well as through mergers and acquisitions.
"BindView's market leading position in the vulnerability assessment market, combined with the skill set of its employees and executive team, was instrumental in my decision to join the company," stated Pierce. "BindView's impressive list of customers and award-winning technologies position it for the next stage of growth. I look forward to being part of this dynamic market."
In addition, BindView is announcing the resignation of Paul Cormier as senior vice president of development. To provide a flatter organization structure, and ensure that BindView's core product families have equal visibility at the executive level, the development responsibilities are being divided into two positions to be filled by promoting existing BindView employees.
