ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 23, 2001

Contest Offers Grand Prizes To Promote the FREE Download Of TridiaVNC;

The First Commercially Supported Open Source Remote Control Software

Tridia Corporation, a global provider of eSupport tools that empower remote system administration today announced its "pcAnywhere Is Nowhere Near This Free" contest.

The contest offers grand prizes to promote the FREE download of TridiaVNC, the first commercially supported, open source remote control software. Tridia's "pcAnywhere Is Nowhere Near This Free" promotion is a stake in the ground to illustrate how its commercially supported, open source remote control products are a logical choice over the high cost and like features of market leader's pcAnywhere remote control product.

Contestants participate by providing two e-mail addresses of IT professionals at www.tridiavnc.com/econtest1 that might have interest in TridiaVNC or actively use high cost, commercial, remote control products like pcAnywhere. Participants will have a chance to win one of five Palm Pilot m505s valued at $450 each during the first 60 days of the contest. 120 days into the contest, 3 Panasonic handheld DVD players valued at $1,000 each will be awarded. A Sony VAIO 170FX laptop grand prize valued at $2,500 will be awarded 180 days from the start of the contest. Winning contestants from each prize category will be drawn at random by "Remo," Tridia's recently named remote control alien ambassador.

"Contests are a perfect reward mechanism for the growing number of IT professionals that endorse and recommend the use of commercially supported open source products for remote eSupport," says Vince Frese, chief executive officer at Tridia Corporation. "We've had more than 30,000 downloads of TridiaVNC since it was first launched. It's clear that this is only the tip of an iceberg. Its downloads continue to escalate as word spreads about the reliability and value of TridiaVNC. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see how logical a FREE, fully supported remote control product is when its compared to commercial offerings with high license fees."

Unlike closed source, remote control products, TridiaVNC provides cross-platform support and functionality from a single open source product. This open source model gives users the freedom to customize, integrate and enhance TridiaVNC to meet their specific needs. Its small footprint is another advantage. The Win32 viewer is about 184K in size. In addition, VNC uses minimal resources when not in use. And, since TridiaVNC requires no license fee, it is a cost effective choice for company-wide deployment.
