Benthos Announces Licensing Agreement

NORTH FALMOUTH, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001

Benthos, Inc. (NASDAQ:BTHS) announced today that it has been granted an exclusive worldwide license from Simon Fraser University (SFU) for the computed angle of arrival transient imaging and small aperture range versus angle sonar technology which is generally known as "SARA/CAATI Swath Bathymetry Sonar" technology, for use in swath bathymetry including 3D side scan sonar. Benthos has also partnered with SFU's Underwater Research Laboratory to conduct future research in developing an enhanced prototype system and for eventually commercializing this technology.
