Toshiba Technology Breaks Mobile Computing Barriers at COMDEX

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Computer Systems Group (CSG) will showcase future technologies and the company's newest wireless notebooks, PDA, server and multimedia capabilities with NVIDIA's(R) mobile graphics technology at this year's COMDEX. The products and technologies on display in Toshiba's booth No.5638 are designed to offer users complete mobility and connectivity for work and play.

"Today, consumers are looking for increased mobility, connectivity and innovation and the products featured at this show are specifically designed to meet those needs."

Featured technologies to be showcased at Toshiba's booth will include:

-- Industry's first 1.8-inch embedded 20GB Hard Disk Drive that is 20 percent
smaller than any drive currently on the market

-- Toshiba-exclusive advanced magnesium casework that is exceptionally thin and
light and provides unmatched strength and rigidity

-- New battery technology that stores energy in a flat form factor versus the
standard cylindrical battery shape to maximize a notebook's lightweight and
thin profile without sacrificing performance

-- New thinner keyboard designed for touch-typists

-- Low temperature polysilicon display technology that is lighter and delivers
higher quality images using fewer components (40 percent less) than current TFT
displayIntegrated Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless communications

Mobility Meets Desktop Level Gaming Performance

-- Gaming on the Go: Toshiba's new Satellite(R) 5005 and

Satellite 3000 Series notebooks feature the mobile graphics

technology of NVIDIA, allowing users to take their computer

gaming on the road, maintaining desktop-level graphics

performance. Toshiba will feature a gaming area at the booth,

allowing show attendees to test their gaming skills using the

Satellite 5005 and Satellite 3000 Series notebooks.

-- Satellite 5005 notebook: Designed for small office/home office

users and students, the Satellite 5005 features the new

Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Home Edition operating system and

desktop graphics performance with an NVIDIA GeForce2 Go(TM)

graphics processor unit with 16MB DDR video memory. The

notebook also comes with a Harmon/Kardon stereo sound system

with subwoofer.

Featured Mobile Products

Featured mobile products will include the Portege(R) 4000 Series notebook, Tecra(R) 9000 Series notebook, Pocket PC e570 PDA and Magnia(R) Z300 server:

-- Portege 4000 Series notebook: Weighing in at only 4.4 pounds,

the Portege 4000 Series is the industry's first notebook with

integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth(TM) technologies. It also

offers a Secure Digital(TM) (SD) media slot, an industry first

for corporate notebooks, a second spindle for added

functionality, full-sized keycaps, a 12-inch poly-silicon TFT

display and features the Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Edition operating system.

-- Tecra 9000 Series notebook: Designed for mobile enterprise

executives, the Tecra 9000 Series is the industry's first

notebook with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technologies and

offers a full-sized keyboard and DVD installed in a new Slim

SelectBay. It also offers a SD media slot, another industry

first for corporate notebooks, accommodating a SD Memory Card.

A SD Memory Card stores up to four hours of music or 40

minutes of video and is designed for use in wireless and

portable communications devices. The Tecra also features the

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition.

-- Pocket PC e570 PDA: Toshiba's first entry into the PDA market,

the Pocket PC e570 was developed for mobile enterprise

customers. It offers dual built-in SD and CompactFlash II

expansion slots and uses the Microsoft Pocket PC 2002

operating software. This PDA also offers increased storage

capacity up to 128MB.

-- Magnia Z300 server: The Magnia Z300 integrates wireless

connectivity for greater mobility throughout a company's

workforce. Designed for the small to medium business, the

Magnia Z300 server features optimum flexibility and strong

performance for a confined working environment and offers

three flexible system configurations and a choice of

micro-tower or rack-mounted form factors.
