MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 12, 2001

Orsus Solutions, the leading provider of technology that aggregates, integrates and delivers information to web and wireless users, today announced that the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) has successfully mobilized its email system as part of a pilot program using Orsus Uno. Orsus Uno, a comprehensive platform for rapidly creating and deploying web and wireless applications, enabled UCSB to quickly deliver student and faculty email to any Palm OS device. The success of the wireless email program sets the stage for a campus-wide rollout of Orsus technology.

"The keys to the success of the pilot program were the impressive capabilities of Uno and the Orsus professional services team," said Bill Doering, director of the Information Technology Group at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education. "The speed with which we were able to develop and then deploy our wireless email solution was simply amazing."

"The deployment of Orsus Uno at UCSB illustrates the power and versatility of our technology," said Amir Weinberg, president and CTO at Orsus. "Now, UCSB can easily integrate data from the University's backend systems and create web and wireless applications for both students and faculty alike."

Build, Enhance Student Portals

With the pilot, Orsus has paved the way for the possible deployment of Uno throughout the University. UCSB is considering using Orsus Uno to build student portals and wireless solutions to provide students with access to email and other school-related information from any device. UCSB currently uses disjointed technology to pull student data from 3,270 disparate systems; with Orsus Uno implemented, the school can integrate its mainframe applications with external course information and create highly specialized student services.

Orsus Uno

The Orsus Uno platform includes Uno Studio, an environment for developing complete web and wireless applications in just days, and Uno Server, a scalable, standards-based deployment server for Java and Windows. Professional and novice developers use Uno Studio's graphical process and interface editors to prototype applications in hours and perfect them in days. In many cases, business managers can make their organizations self-sufficient in answering their information needs without adding any burden to IT developers.

Server Configurations

Uno Server is built on a scalable Java architecture that is based on platform, data-access, web and wireless standards, and runs on Windows 2000, HP, Sun and Linux servers. In addition, Orsus Server runs on J2EE appservers based on WebLogic/BEA, iPlanet, HP Bluestone, jBoss and JRun.
