ANNAPOLIS, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 14, 2001

USinternetworking, Inc. (USi, Nasdaq: USIX), the leading Application Service Provider (ASP), today released application availability and service level agreement client service metrics. Made possible through refinements to USi's proprietary service delivery platform and process, the Company is currently delivering a 99.95% availability across all mission-critical application services for its many enterprise clients, including leaders like VISA USA, Hershey Foods, and SchlumbergerSema Telecoms.(1) Additionally, USi met or exceeded all service level agreements across its entire client base for its iMAP (Internet Managed Application Provider) portfolio service offerings during the months of September and October.

USi delivers against the industry's most comprehensive service level agreements, significantly exceeding an average uptime requirement of 99.5%, while covering all layers of the service delivery stack including the data center, servers, networking, and application software. While USi is maintaining a 99.95% availability, Gartner Inc. estimates that most enterprises achieve 99% end-to-end availability for their mission critical application services.(2) A 99.95% availability equates to approximately 22 minutes of unscheduled downtime a month, whereas a 99% availability translates to approximately 432 minutes of unscheduled downtime a month.(3)

Market research firm IDC acknowledges USi's attention to quality of service. "IDC is seeing ASPs strive to develop more mature services delivery models. USi's continuous improvement in service levels is reflective of not only the focus the company has put on quality of service, but also the processes and systems it has developed to ensure customer satisfaction," said Meredith Whalen, Vice President, ASP, eCommerce and Consulting Services Research, IDC.

USi's delivery platform and process are central to this client service success. The USi Global Services Platform (USiGSP) is engineered and proven for ASP services and has grown to include over 4000 communications and computing infrastructure elements in production, over which two million production hours have accumulated. USi's specialized processes ensure quality throughout the application service delivery lifecycle. USi has achieved several third party certifications, including ISO 9001, SysTrust Cyber Process, SAS70 - Levels 1 and 2, and Microsoft Gold Certification.

"USi is not only the enterprise ASP market leader, but also the service quality leader," said Nick Magliato, Senior Vice President, Global Services Platform Technology. "These results show that large enterprises can trust USi to deliver and manage their mission critical applications."

Earlier this year, USi was named the ASP global market leader by market research firm IDC, and is the world's first ASP to have received multiple Microsoft ASP certifications for quality services.
