SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2001
Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE:FCS) announces a high-speed triple 8-bit DAC (D/A converter) boasting a conversion rate of 180MHz.
The image-quality FMS3818 triple DAC is built using a 0.35-micron CMOS process and is the first Fairchild high-speed DAC optimized for 3.3V supplies. The FMS3818's high-resolution output is especially designed for systems featuring XGA, SXGA, and UXGA resolutions. It is ideal for a wide range of display applications, including video (where speed is critical), computer graphics cards and workstations. Few external components are required for this device, which combines cost-effectiveness with performance and features. The FMS3818 offers designers of high-resolution display systems an easy-to-use solution for high-quality analog RGB and video output.
Operating at lower clock rates and higher voltages, the FMS3818 DAC is an extension of Fairchild's popular FMS38XX series. Additional features of the new FMS3818 include power-down control to conserve battery power in portable equipment, double-buffered digital inputs for low distortion, as well as an onboard bandgap voltage reference. The FMS3818 is available in a 48-lead LQFP package. Performance is guaranteed from zero to 70 degrees Celsius.
