EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 28, 2001

XIOtech Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Seagate Technology and a storage area network (SAN) pioneer, announced that it has been listed, by IDC, as the fastest growing external disk storage systems vendor in 2000, as measured by supplier revenue. Forecasts for 2001 continue to place XIOtech among the fastest growing external disk storage systems vendors.

IDC last week released a draft of its upcoming storage systems report entitled, Worldwide Disk Storage Systems Market Forecast and Analysis, 1999-2005. In this draft IDC listed XIOtech as the fastest growing external disk storage systems supplier from 1999 to 2000. This document also forecasts XIOtech to increase its external disk storage system revenue in 2001 and to remain one of the fastest growing external disk storage system companies. This 2001 growth is forecasted during a year when IDC expects the total external disk storage systems market to decline more than 18% in supplier revenue.

"XIOtech's growth in a declining market speaks to the value of virtualized storage available within the MAGNITUDE platform," said Joseph Rigoli, Senior Research Analyst, IDC Storage Systems.

"We will continue to grow because in these tough economic times purchasing our products makes more sense than ever. Our cost-effective and easy-to-use MAGNITUDE hardware platform reduces administrative costs while protecting critical data from disasters and other downtime events," said Richard Blaschke, executive vice president of marketing for XIOtech. "We're looking forward to continuing to expand our presence in the market by providing customers with affordable, critical pieces of their IT infrastructure."
