MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2001
AMC, Inc., parent company of AMERICASMART ATLANTA, has awarded ThyssenKrupp Elevator a full maintenance agreement for its 4.2-million square foot exhibit center in Atlanta, Georgia.
The agreement for the three high rise buildings includes the maintenance of 40 elevators, 156 escalators, and other vertical transportation equipment manufactured by various companies. AMERICASMART ATLANTA, the largest wholesale merchandise, gift, and apparel market in the country, attracts thousands of buyers each year from every state and 72 countries around the world.
"This is the largest collection of competitor equipment we've obtained from the original manufacturer," said Barry Pletch, ThyssenKrupp Elevator's president of North American Field Operations. "We are pleased that AMERICASMART agrees that our Atlanta service team, backed by our National Technical Services (NTS), is the right combination for a successful maintenance program."
"NTS was the key," stated Kim Gzeckowicz, AMC, Inc.'s vice president of Operations. "Even though ThyssenKrupp did not manufacture our equipment, we feel confident in their Atlanta maintenance team's ability to provide exceptional maintenance through the expertise of National Technical Services."
NTS supplies the research and training that enables ThyssenKrupp Elevator maintenance technicians to provide superior service of vertical transportation equipment, regardless of who manufactured it. Located in Dallas, Texas, NTS specializes in the technical assistance and support of elevator equipment manufactured by other companies.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator has 10,500 employees and is represented by over 300 sales and service locations in the United States and Canada. Since entering the North American elevator market in the 1980s and acquiring Dover Elevator in the 1990s, the company has grown to become the North American leader in elevator sales and services, maintaining over 170,000 units. ThyssenKrupp Elevator is the third largest manufacturer of elevators worldwide. ThyssenKrupp Elevator products are recognized globally for their high quality of design, engineering, and durability.
ThyssenKrupp Elevator is a member of the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation, a charitable organization that promotes the safe and proper use of elevators, escalators, and moving walks through information and educational programs.
