RESTON, Va. & CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2001
Classes Will Be Free for First 90 Days to Help Affected Employees
and their Families Build Computer Skills
VCampus(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: VCMP), the leading provider of end-to-end, web-based e-Learning solutions, and United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) are teaming to offer free computer skills courses to the UAL employees who were affected by the company's reduction in force.
Thirty-two courses are being offered on a specially developed online campus to the furloughed United employees and their families at no cost for 90 days. These employees and their families can then continue to take courses for a nominal fee. The campus is accessible to the former employees by direct link from United's web site.
"Our goal is to be as helpful as we can during this painful process for all of our current and former employees," said Bill Hobgood, Senior Vice President-Human Resources at United Airlines. "Because e-Learning provides education anytime, anywhere, we felt this would be an ideal resource for a wide spectrum of employees affected by our reduction in workforce."
"We are proud to work with United Airlines as it launches this program to provide continuing assistance to employees and families affected by the reduction in force," said Daniel Neal, President and CEO of VCampus. "We hope the classes will make these strenuous times a bit easier for these employees by helping them build important skills to advance their employment options."
