CPSI Integrates Identix Biometric Identification Product into Healthcare Information Systems

CPSI today announced that it has signed a developer agreement with Los Gatos, Calif.-based Identix Incorporated (Nasdaq: IDNX) to license Identix' BioEngine(TM) SDK. CPSI is integrating the Identix BioEngine fingerprint recognition software with CPSI's Healthcare Information and Patient Care System. The agreement provides CPSI with the ability to increase system security by offering an efficient, HIPAA-ready, biometric authentication solution. Four CPSI clients have committed to utilizing this technology.

BioEngine software can improve security at the network and application levels by offering fingerprint verification. The Identix BioEngine SDK gives CPSI system integrators the advantage of Identix' 20 years of biometric engineering experience and expertise while maintaining full flexibility for custom applications. Fingerprint verification, compares two minutiae-based templates - one submitted against one stored - and determines if users are who they say they are. If the templates match, user access or the transaction is allowed to take place.
