INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2001

Windows 2000-based products designed to help large enterprises

and mobile business users improve productivity

Interactive Intelligence Inc. (Nasdaq:ININ), a global developer of interaction management software, is demonstrating its new large-scale, Windows 2000-based unified communications software, Communite(TM), and its first wireless application gateway product, Mobilite(TM), at MEC 2001.

MEC 2001, Microsoft's annual infrastructure planning and deployment conference, is held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, 2001 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL. Interactive Intelligence is demonstrating its new products at booth numbers 336 and 338.

Communite is based on Microsoft technologies, including Windows 2000, Active Directory, Exchange 2000, SQL Server 2000 and Internet Information System (IIS). Interactive Intelligence designed Communite as a voice mail and unified messaging replacement to improve productivity for enterprises with up to hundreds of thousands of employees. Communite offers features such as unified messaging, wireless access, follow-me services, call screening, inbound and outbound faxing, calendar access and presence management.

"Communite's use of Microsoft's Active Directory enables it to accommodate even the largest companies, including distributed organizations," Dr. Donald E. Brown, president and chief executive officer for Interactive Intelligence, said. "In addition, Communite is less expensive and easier to maintain compared to proprietary products that require a separate voice mail platform, unified messaging platform and fax server. Communite combines all of these into a single, reliable platform offering powerful productivity applications."

Interactive Intelligence designed Mobilite to give enterprises and service providers a faster and easier way to develop, deploy and administer mobile applications for popular PDA devices such Microsoft's Pocket PC. Mobilite gives mobile users access to corporate databases, mainframe systems, CRM and ERP applications, LDAP directories and other communications and IT systems.

Said Dr. Brown: "Unlike the thin client or WAP approach, Mobilite is designed to give mobile workers fast, secure access to complex applications, including vital back-office systems such as Exchange 2000. And unlike the thick client approach, Mobilite enables enterprises to distribute and support applications centrally across multiple PDA types. We're really excited to finally give the enterprise a fast and cost-effective way to roll out applications for its mobile workforce."

"Microsoft is pleased to be working with Interactive Intelligence to deliver a complete communications solution to enterprises," Kevin McCuistion, Exchange group product manager for Microsoft, said. "Communite and Mobilite, combined with Exchange 2000, will provide a simpler, more cost-effective and reliable solution to meet the needs of our mutual customers."

Interactive Intelligence released the beta versions of Communite and Mobilite on Aug. 20, 2001 and the company expects both products to be generally available in early Q4 2001.

Interactive Intelligence will market and sell Communite and Mobilite directly and through its global channel network composed of more than 150 value-added resellers, distributors and original equipment manufacturers.
