MOUNTAIN VIEW & SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 2001
Integrated Solution to Automate Datacenter Management and Lower IT
Administration Costs
Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq:MRBA), a leading provider of systems management solutions built for e-business, and Mercury Interactive Corporation (Nasdaq:MERQ), the world's leading provider of enterprise testing and application performance management solutions, today announced an alliance to integrate Marimba's products for change management and Mercury Interactive's application performance management products. The integrated solution will allow IT administrators to manage the full lifecycle of Web-based applications -- from automated testing, to initial deployment, to the monitoring and management of ongoing updates.
As a result of the new alliance, the two companies will participate in joint sales and marketing activities with Mercury Interactive becoming Marimba's preferred partner in the area of performance management, and Marimba joining Mercury Interactive's Open Architecture Program (OAP).
"By teaming with Mercury Interactive, Marimba can bring a best-of-breed performance management solution to its customers much more quickly and economically than by developing it ourselves," said Rich Wyckoff, president and CEO of Marimba. "This arrangement allows Marimba to focus its efforts on its core change management products, while providing an integrated solution that will ultimately help customers automate, update, manage, and monitor their IT and Web infrastructures."
With the integrated solution, enterprise customers and service providers will be able to leverage the collective strengths of Marimba's Server Management product family and Mercury Interactive's Topaz(TM) solution that measures the end-user experience 24x7, inside and outside the firewall and in the application, to automate the delivery of code and content to production servers and to monitor the performance of applications.
Best-of-Breed Management Solutions
As part of the arrangement, Marimba will work closely with Mercury Interactive through its OAP program to integrate the two products. Initial areas of integration will enable Marimba's Server Management module to notify Topaz of application and content changes. The second area of integration will allow Topaz to notify Marimba's Server Management to automatically deploy applications and updates for servers. The integrated solution will help decrease IT administration costs and increase availability.
"A natural connection exists between the deployment of application and content change on a system and the monitoring and availability of those applications," said Ido Sarig, vice president of APM product marketing at Mercury Interactive. "The combination of Mercury Interactive's application performance management products and Marimba's change management products will allow customers to expedite the performance management and change management process, and will increase customer satisfaction."
