BRISBANE, Australia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 2001
Suncorp Metway, Australia's second largest general insurance company and sixth-largest bank with total assets of $33.3 billion, has launched its new state-of-the-art online banking system at www.suncorpmetway.com.au.
Performance Technology, an independent specialist in Internet banking site audits, has rated the site the fastest Internet banking site in Australia. The site proved to be an average of 59 percent faster than the competition when compared on a number of different criteria. Suncorp Metway's customers are already hailing the site as a great success, with positive feedback being made online and in conversations with the call center.
The Internet banking software behind the new site is provided by Corillian Corp. (Nasdaq:CORI), a leading global provider of eFinance-enabling software. In helping Suncorp Metway to build their new Online Banking System, Corillian successfully replaced Suncorp Metway's previous S1's EBS 3.1 solution with Corillian's Voyager platform. The conversion has enabled the bank to further enhance its Internet banking service, using proven, new generation eFinance technology.
Suncorp Metway, an Allfinanz group, is one of Australia's most diversified financial services providers, offering banking, insurance, and investment products to four million customers through an extensive distribution network. The launch of a major new infrastructure platform has enabled Suncorp Metway to expand its Internet banking offering -- providing new features, products and services to a wider range of customers.
"Our partnership with Corillian has meant our customers are now using an Internet banking facility that is the best in the country," said Ray Reimer, group general manager, business distribution. "It's fast, it's secure and we've proved it can handle large volumes of online customer traffic. We wanted to give our customers an Internet banking service with a range of practical features that made it easier to do business with us. Corillian's expertise in this market has helped us fulfil our eBusiness objectives."
This represents an important development for Corillian, as it demonstrates that successful eFinance solutions developed for the U.S. market can be adapted for the Australian market. With over 40 financial institutions already licensing the Voyager product in the U.S., Corillian's Voyager operating system offers unparalleled levels of scalability for leading Australian banks that are planning to enhance their e-banking operations across Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
Corillian Voyager -- The Operating System for eFinance(TM) -- is a non-stop, high-performance platform that allows for the delivery of financial services to customers over the Internet. Voyager provides a link between a financial institution's legacy host system and its consumers, using Internet browsers, personal financial management programs and Internet-ready wireless devices. Voyager's open architecture design allows the institution to quickly integrate emerging technologies, deploy the platform in-house or in a secure data center, and customize the entire Internet banking presentation to its customers.
"This is a major development for Corillian International and the development of our Australian business," said Martin Davis, executive vice president, Corillian International. "The unparalleled scalability and open architecture that Voyager provides has enabled Suncorp Metway to seamlessly add new technology and financial services to its original platform without impinging on customer security. We're very proud to have helped Suncorp Metway build the best online banking system in Australia."
