BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 16, 2001
Allied Telesyn International (www.alliedtelesyn.com), a worldwide leader in simplifying IP networking for businesses of all sizes, today announced that it has received NEBS Level 3 certification for its -48v DC powered AT-D8224XL managed 10/100TX Layer 2 switch.
NEBS Level 3 certification is required for all equipment installed in carrier's facilities. This rigorous testing benchmark ensures that all equipment meets stringent environmental and operational standards to ensure maximum network reliability.
The AT- D8224XL Fast Ethernet Switch complies with Level 3 criteria of NEBS standards GR-1089-CORE and GR- 62-CORE for Type 2 equipment. The device also complies with SBC requirements TP76200MP.
"By being NEBS Level 3 certified, we can demonstrate to service providers and to other end users that our products meet their most stringent service requirements," said Jim Berthot, Head of the Americas and Senior Vice President of Allied Telesyn. "It demonstrates that even under extremely harsh conditions such as extreme heat, humidity, electromagnetic interference and other environmental factors, our technology continues to operate to design standards and to provide the performance and reliability that today's carriers require."
With full wire speed packet switching and feature rich functionality, the NEBS Level 3-certified AT-D8224XL 24 port 10/100TX switch offers one the best feature/function/performance packages on the market. 802.1Q VLAN tagging helps with control, security and performance-- especially in mixed-brand networks, while port trunking doubles available bandwidth to multiply the performance benefits. Other standard features include support for up to 12K MAC addresses, automatic address learning and aging as well as static address support, 802.1d spanning tree, 802.3x flow control, and port mirroring. Advanced features such as 802.1p Class of Service, IGMP Snooping and Web-based management are also standard on the AT-D8224XL. Reliability and ease of use are aided by auto-negotiation of half/full-duplex on all ports, support for SNMP, Telnet, and RS-232 serial port access for both in-band and out-of-band management options.
The AT-D8224XL is just one of three models in the standalone AT-8200 managed switch family. The AT-8224XL is identical to the D-model, but with traditional AC power. The AT-8216FXL is equipped with 16 x 100FX fiber ports. For users seeking stackability, Allied Telesyn also offers the AT-8300 family. The AT-8324 and AT-8316F use the same base architecture as the AT-8200s and are built to the same exacting NEBS standards.
NEB testing of the AT-D8224XL was conducted by MET Laboratories (www.metlabs.com) at its NEBS facilities in Union City, CA.
