ATLANTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2001
The Allegheny County Airport Authority Board of Directors has approved entering into an agreement with Intergraph Public Safety (IPS)(NASDAQ:INGR) to provide a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for the Pittsburgh International Airport. The contract award is valued at $1 million (U.S.).
The announcement was made today during the AVSEC World 2001 Conference.
The Airport is currently constructing a new Consolidated Communications/Enhanced Operations Center (CC/EOC) that will control police, fire, EMS, ground operations, and maintenance for the airport and surrounding area. In addition to providing dispatch functions for all emergency and non-emergency services, the IPS CAD system will interface to the Airport's security access and terminal alarm systems as well as facilitate maintenance work orders for both landside and airside terminals.
Pittsburgh International Airport is the 24th busiest airport in the United States, serving approximately 19 million international and domestic passengers during the year 2000. The Airport occupies roughly 10,000 acres and has 100 aircraft gates and three million square feet of terminal space.
"We are looking forward to the many benefits of a Consolidated Communications/Enhanced Operations Center. One of them will be the IPS CAD system. It will help us integrate all of our call taking for a number of departments and contribute to more efficient communications operations," explained Brad Penrod, Deputy Executive Director, Operations and Facilities, Allegheny County Airport Authority.
"Intergraph Public Safety is looking forward to our partnership with the Pittsburgh International Airport. The IPS solution will contribute in seamlessly integrating all existing CC/EOC systems, facilitating a true multi-agency, multi-jurisdiction, and multi-platform assimilation of information and resources," said Dr. Roger O. Coupland, president of Intergraph Public Safety. "We are pleased to welcome Pittsburgh International Airport as a member of the growing family of IPS airport CAD clients."
