SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2001
For the first time, Web developers can instantly insert advertising directly into a Web site without leaving the Microsoft FrontPage 2002(R) application.
Commission Junction, a pay-for-performance ad network, has been integrated into FrontPage's Web site creation software. Commission Junction is included in FrontPage as a component of Microsoft's bCentral suite of services. Developers using FrontPage now have easy access to Commission Junction's wide range of advertisers to immediately create a revenue-generating site.
Previously, Web developers inserted advertising into a site through the slow process of cutting and pasting ad links from a separate application. Now, while in the FrontPage application, a Web developer simply clicks on a pull-down menu displaying Commission Junction as an option. The technology allows the developers to become members of Commission Junction's ad network without leaving the application. Once signed up, the developer can choose advertisements that best fit the needs of the site. There is no cost for publishers to join the Commission Junction network.
"The integration of Commission Junction with the FrontPage 2002 bCentral component makes it easy for bCentral customers to link their Web sites to advertising networks," said Nigel Burton, general manager at Microsoft Corp. "Our customers benefit from new revenue sources enabled by linking to Commission Junction's advertising network when developing their Web site with Microsoft FrontPage 2002."
The Commission Junction model is based on pay-for-performance, which means that advertisers pay a commission to the Web site publisher each time a visitor clicks on an ad that results in a sale or lead. Publishers choose the ads that best fit their Web site and have the greatest revenue potential. Instead of receiving a one-time fee from advertisers in exchange for placing an ad on their Web site, publishers receive a commission each time an ad delivers a sale or lead to the advertiser.
"Microsoft FrontPage customers can convert Web traffic into a revenue source," said Lex Sisney, chief executive officer and co-founder of Commission Junction. "Since our advertising links are based solely on pay-for-performance, publishers can measure the results of each inserted ad in real time."
