AppGate Names Alfred Moresi as Chief Executive Officer; E-Security Leader and Former Ernst & Young Senior Partner Joins the AppGate Management Team

AppGate(TM), provider of the most advanced VPN solution, today announced the appointment of Alfred Moresi to the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) post of the AppGate Group, including AppGate AB, Gothenburg, Sweden and AppGate, Inc., Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

In addition, Mr. Moresi will be a Director and member of the Board of Directors for both companies. In his new position, officially assumed on October 11, 2001, Mr. Moresi will lead the company's new business development, marketing, sales, services, engineering, research and development efforts for the global organization. He will have offices in both the company's Gothenburg, Sweden-based headquarters and North American based headquarters in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina.

As CEO, Mr. Moresi is responsible for AppGate's worldwide strategic and tactical business development as well as product development. He brings a strong formation in global security product sales, services and marketing and will launch new strategic directions in marketing, sales and services to drive market penetration of the AppGate VPN family of products. He will focus sales and marketing efforts to expand both entry level and enterprise level market share. Based on his strong hardware, software and professional services background, he plans to drive home the price performance advantage of the AppGate flag ship product and promote the end-to-end features in key internal business processes such as Enterprise Wireless LAN networks, Trusted Networks, Extranets, Remote network and Internet business solutions.

Previous to joining AppGate, Mr. Moresi led sales, marketing, research/development, operations and business development in the capacity of chief operating officer (COO) for eNetSecure, a subsidiary to Applied Signal Technology. He also served as a Senior Partner at Ernst & Young, LLP, where he led and developed one of the largest professional services group dedicated to e-commerce, security and IT infrastructure focused on Western United States, Far East and European markets. Further, he established and led the e-commerce, IT and security practice serving the Western United States and in particular Silicon Valley for Price Waterhouse, LLP. In addition to Mr. Moresi's leadership roles at the aforementioned firms, he has a strong entrepreneurial history--founding and building two successful software and service technology businesses, Securatec S.A. and Syncware Corporation - as well as senior management history with Citibank and Digital Equipment Corporation.
