AGOURA HILLS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 25, 2001
ISWest, one of Southern California's largest and most successful business-to-business ISPs, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Internap Network Services Corp. (NASDAQ:INAP).
Internap, the leading intelligent routing services provider, agreed to install the top 10 backbone providers that carry 95 percent of the world's Internet traffic into ISWest's facility.
ISWest currently operates a spectacular data center in Agoura Hills and Los Angeles, Calif., offering co-location and managed Web hosting to businesses large and small. Prior to this deal with Internap, ISWest had two backbone providers, which gave the company redundancy of routing their Internet traffic.

"In the event of a backbone provider having routing trouble, ISWest's Cisco routers would simply reroute its customer's traffic to our other provider," said Bob Johnson, chief technical officer for ISWest.
"Internap's unique approach to Internet connectivity compliments ISWest's network infrastructure and adds to the existing two backbone providers, Level 3 (NASDAQ:LVLT) and Global Crossing (NYSE:GX)," commented Drew Kaplan, director of sales & marketing for ISWest. "Now we will have a total of 10 backbone providers such as: AT&T(T), Cable & Wireless (NYSE:CWP), Sprintlink (NYSE:FON), UUNet (NASDAQ:WCOM), Genuity (NASDAQ:GENU), Verio, Digex (NASDAQ:DIGX) and Qwest (NYSE:Q). Working with Internap enables us to offer a diverse connectivity to the Internet, which offers even more redundancy and reliability than we already have."
Founded in 1996 in Seattle, Internap Network Services Corp. provides Internet connectivity that routes data more efficiently, securely and reliably over the Internet. Internap analyzes the traffic situation on the Internet and continually selects the path of least resistance -- across all major backbones.
