NAPA VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 31, 2001
Pine Ridge Winery, LLC, announced today that Gary Andrus has retired from his position as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Winemaker of Pine Ridge and Archery Summit Wineries.
"I have been extremely fortunate to fulfill this dream of creating fine wines and establishing a successful and rewarding business in the process. Now is the time to pass on the torch to our talented wine makers and pursue some of my other interests," said Andrus.
Ian M. Cumming, Chairman of Leucadia National Corporation, will serve as interim CEO of Pine Ridge and head the search for a permanent replacement. A subsidiary of Leucadia National Corporation is the majority owner of Pine Ridge Winery, LLC.
Gary and Nancy Andrus founded Pine Ridge Winery in 1978. What began then as four acres within the Stags Leap District has grown to over 300 acres of estate vineyards in various Napa Valley appellations. Archery Summit, located in Oregon's Willamette Valley, was launched in 1993.
Pine Ridge and Archery Summit wines have won numerous awards and have been broadly praised by the press over the years. Most recently, Pine Ridge was included for the second consecutive year in Wine and Spirits' "Winery of the Year" issue, as a top regional winery. In October, Food and Wine Magazine named Archery Summit's 1999 Arcus Estates "best Pinor Noir in the nation."
Andrus will remain as a consultant to both Pine Ridge and Archery Summit Wineries. He will continue traveling the world lecturing on phenolics, clonal research and winemaking. He also plans to indulge in his other passion of fly-fishing.
Nancy Andrus remains with Pine Ridge in the capacity as Executive Vice President of Marketing. Stacy Clark continues to serve as winemaker at Pine Ridge and Sam Tannahill remains as winemaker at Archery Summit.
