DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 2001

Entrust, Inc.(Nasdaq:ENTU), a leading global provider of enhanced Internet security services and solutions, announces its support for the IBM eServer pSeries 690 because it is a perfect complement to Entrust Authority software and an ideal platform on which to run enhanced Internet security applications.

Fueled by IBM's breakthrough POWER4 microprocessor and self- managing capabilities, the new IBM eServer, announced today by IBM, increases the range of manageable and scalable IBM platforms for Entrust's leading enhanced Internet security solutions.

The combination of Entrust Authority software with the new IBM eServer system provides customers with a highly reliable and scalable e-business infrastructure.

The demand for enhanced Internet security - which includes user identification, verification, entitlements, privacy and security management - continues to grow as more and more governments and businesses move more transactions online. Additionally, as Internet usage increases globally, basic Internet security becomes increasingly vulnerable.

In a recent IDC report, large U.S. companies rated security and privacy as their two highest priorities, with 93 percent of chief information officers rating security as "very important," and 82 percent rating privacy as "very important."

Entrust Authority software delivers the enhanced security required for governments and businesses to move higher value and more sensitive data through online transactions, including tax filings, 401K and pension fund administration, e-commerce, e-procurement and other essential business and government activities. The Entrust solution enables enhanced identification, verification, privacy and security management transparently across a wide range of applications.

"Working in partnership with leading independent software vendors (ISVs), IBM offers a comprehensive portfolio of software and hardware solutions to effectively manage a company's e-business infrastructure," said Val Rahmani, vice president marketing operations, IBM Web Servers unit. "As an industry-leading platform for Entrust enhanced Internet security software, the new IBM eServer p690 meets the business-critical needs of our customers' most demanding computing environments."

Entrust and IBM are working together in various capacities to deliver enhanced Internet security to business applications. Entrust recently announced the integration of the Entrust True Pass product, which delivers security and privacy through digital identities that uniquely identify each user, with IBM's Websphere Application Server for the IBM AIX operating system.

"Entrust's long-standing relationship with IBM is based on a common vision and mutual commitment that the Internet can transform any organization into a powerful e-business," said Mark Davis, chief marketing officer, Entrust, Inc. "IBM's pSeries 690 can help to fulfill this vision by providing reliable, scalable and adaptable information technologies. We look forward to our continued collaboration with IBM and to delivering global customers secure, state-of-the-art enhanced Internet security solutions on the AIX 5L version 5.1 operating environment early next year."

The IBM eServer pSeries 690 is a datacenter-class UNIX server, containing up to thirty-two POWER4 microprocessors. POWER4 -- the world's first dual-processor computer chip -- incorporates IBM's innovative copper and silicon-on-insulator technology, providing the p690 with superior performance over the competition.

The IBM eServer pSeries 690 runs AIX 5L, the industry's most open UNIX operating environment. AIX 5L provides increased levels of integration, flexibility and reliability essential for meeting the high demands of today's e-business applications.
