SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 12, 2001
Atos Origin, a global leader in providing enterprise application implementation, integration and support services is pleased to announce that it has entered into a strategic agreement with CSX World Terminals, a subsidiary of CSX Corporation that operates containerized cargo terminals in eleven port locations throughout the world.
As part of this transaction, Atos Origin will become CSX World Terminals' primary IT service provider. The four-year contract initially involves mid-range server hosting and DBA support services provided by Atos Origin's data center in Arlington, Texas.
After considering as many as twenty vendors, CSX World Terminals selected Atos Origin to deliver server hosting and DBA support services. CSX World Terminals was extremely impressed with Atos Origin's process approach to IT service provision and found their ability to assist with data communications support to less-developed countries around the world a big advantage.
"We selected Atos Origin because of their operational maturity and variety of service offerings. They exhibited a high standard of service for support and change control at a very reasonable price. As a global company that provides worldwide support, we found Atos Origin's service model suitable with our global requirements. We look forward to building a relationship with Atos Origin and expanding with them as we grow," said Anne Pollard, CSX World Terminals' Director of Information Technology. According to Yankee Group analyst, Carrie Lewis, "the delivery of solutions anywhere in the world backed by guaranteed interconnectivity across the scope of an organization is becoming an important service requirement. Increasingly, end-users are selecting outsourcing service providers on the basis of geographic scale and scope, as well as service quality."
According to Ken Cameron, Atos Origin V.P. of Managed Services for North America, "We are very pleased to begin this relationship with CSX World Terminals. We believe our ability to assist CSX World Terminals as a partner in multiple geographies and across the entire lifecycle of information technology applications will be of great value in helping CSX World Terminals to achieve its business objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner."
