Boca-based NCCI Holdings, Inc. is one of five companies named the 2001 Best Workplace for Financial Professionals in the current issue of CFO magazine (www.cfo.com/cfomagazine). NCCI is the only Florida company among the five named and was singled out for its "Quality of Work Life."

One in a field of 100 total competing companies, NCCI receives this award along with companies such as Cargill Inc., First Data Corp., FleetBoston, Sodexho, Johnson Controls and Putnam Investments.

NCCI is cited by CFO magazine because "the company practices enable each employee to create for themselves the proper balance of work and family life." All 800 NCCI employees may take advantage of all on-site amenities which include an on-site childcare center, a large state-of-the-art fitness gym, and an on-site Starbuck's cafe. The company was also recognized for their employee community volunteer program and flexible work scheduling policy.

"We appreciate CFO magazine's recognition and believe the award is indicative of the value we place on providing an excellent work environment for all NCCI employees," said Alfredo Guerra, NCCI's CFO. Guerra added that, although these employee perks could cost a pretty penny, NCCI has been able to implement them at relatively low cost to the company through a creative partnership with the YMCA of Boca Raton.

CFO magazine and the 14,000 member Association for Financial Professionals worked with Hackett Benchmarking & Research to establish a system for tracking best workplace practices. The first Annual Best Workplaces for Financial Professionals survey asked participating companies 100 questions which covered five categories and also scored CFO interviews as part of the process. Employees were also offered a separate questionnaire as a check and balance on the finance department's workplace claims, the results also formed the basis for the job-satisfaction component of the benchmarking.

NCCI, located in Boca Raton, FL, is the nation's leading provider of workers compensation data, collecting detailed information on up to 50% of the workers compensation lost-time claims filed in the United States. Using extensive databases, NCCI prepares state insurance rate recommendations, prices state and Federal legislative proposals, and delivers data services and products to over 900 insurance companies and nearly 40 state governments.
