HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 2001
Texas Lawyer has recognized Scott Clearman as one of the top young lawyers in Texas in the newspaper's "40 Under 40" edition, published September 10, 2001.
Mr. Clearman is a founding partner in the Houston law firm McClanahan & Clearman, L.L.P. Mr. Clearman was recognized for his achievements in complex litigation, antitrust, class actions and business torts.
The "40 Under 40" list is comprised of young lawyers selected by the editors and reporters at Texas Lawyer as notable overachievers, all less than 40 years old. "First and foremost, it's an incredible honor to be chosen for this recognition," says the 37-year-old Clearman. "I'm particularly humbled knowing that I was selected by my peers and colleagues."
In 1988, after earning his law degree at the University of Texas School of Law and his Bachelor of Science from Southwestern University, Clearman began practicing law at a Houston defense firm where he focused on insurance coverage litigation. In 1993, Scott left the firm to pursue a class action for Texas businesses.
Clearman specializes in complex commercial, insurance and antitrust litigation including statewide and nation-wide class actions. Besides many victories in the courtroom and before appellate courts, he has successfully negotiated settlements of more than $250 million for Texas businesses to recover overcharges of their workers' compensation insurance premiums.
Clearman is licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Texas Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
In addition to serving as a frequent speaker on issues affecting the insurance industry, Clearman is also a member of the State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Houston Bar Association and Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
Texas Lawyer is the state's only independent newspaper dedicated to law and lawyers. The editors received hundreds of nominations for the "40 Under 40" designation. For more information, contact Mr. Clearman at 713/223-2005 or Mike Androvett at 800/559-4534.
