tools in conjunction with the Intel IQ80310 Evaluation Platform

Red Hat, Inc. (Nasdaq:RHAT), the leader in developing, deploying and managing open source solutions, announced today the availability of its GNUPro embedded toolset and related services for the Intel IQ80310 Development Kit, the evaluation board for the Intel(R) IOP310 I/O processor chipset.

Included with the kit from Intel is the complete version of GNUPro for a Linux host, as well as installation and "getting started" support. A registration card included in the package activates support. Annual subscription services and annual support services are also available for purchase.

"Red Hat's open source GNUPro development tools and support services will provide our customers with yet another option for the tools and expertise they need to develop software applications that take full advantage of the Intel(R) XScale microarchitecture's unique strengths," said David Boehmer, technical marketing manager for Intel, I/O and Bridges Division. "With GNUPro, Red Hat has created a compelling solution for our customers, enabling a broad range of development projects in conjunction with Intel's development environment."

"The combination of the ultra-low power consumption of the Intel XScale microarchitecture and high performance with Red Hat's GNUPro tools and support presents a powerful opportunity for creating next-generation Internet applications and wireless software," said Michael Tiemann, CTO of Red Hat. "With GNUPro, Red Hat has reaffirmed its commitment to providing a robust, industry-standard toolset for developers and technology leaders, as well as the most experienced embedded developer support available."

The Intel IOP310 I/O processor chipset, which is based on the Intel XScale microarchitecture, triples the processing capabilities of the advanced Internet storage systems and Internet infrastructure required of next-generation e-Business, database and other Internet applications.
