ONTARIO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 25, 2001
Southern States Power Company, Inc. (OTCBB:SSPC), announced today that it has been awarded its third consecutive contract to provide biodiesel fuel to Deer Valley Unified, the largest school district in Arizona. The contract will provide Deer Valley with 60,000 gallons of biodiesel over the school year.
"Deer Valley Unified School District has provided strong leadership and demonstrated their commitment to promoting a cleaner environment, in addition to teaching environmental responsibility to their students," stated William O. Sheaffer, the President of Southern States Power Company.
"This contract is another step in strengthening SSPC's current revenue stream as the company continues to pursue additional agreements for biodiesel supply and stationary power generation," added Sheaffer.
Over the nearly two years, the majority of Deer Valley's buses have operated on biodiesel, logging over four million miles on fuel supplied by Southern States Power Company.
The Company
Southern States Power Company, Inc. is a fully reporting publicly traded company, whose core business is to develop, produce and distribute alternative fuels, particularly its OXyG Biodiesel. There are nearly 27 billion gallons of diesel consumed annually in the United States alone, and an additional volume is consumed internationally. It is the goal of the United States Department of Energy that 30% of petroleum based motor fuel is replaced by alternative fuels by the year 2010.
Southern States Power Company has two synergistic divisions: one for the production and sale of biodiesel and the other devoted to the generation of power using alternative fuels. Tightening clean air standards and growing fossil fuel costs are forcing municipal and private commercial fleets to look toward alternative fuel products. Major biodiesel initiatives have been passed at the federal and state levels across the United States. More information can be found at the company's website: www.sspowerco.com or call 909/476-3575.
