SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2001

JNI Now Offers 5 HBAs with EMC Qualification for Solaris Platforms,

Most of Any Manufacturer

JNI(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:JNIC) today announced that EMC(R) Corp. (NYSE:EMC) has qualified JNI's Emerald(TM)-based FibreStar FCE-1063 SBus-to-Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) as "E-Lab Tested" for use in EMC Enterprise Storage Network (ESN) switched fabric and arbitrated loop environments running the Sun Solaris operating system.

EMC's E-Lab Tested qualification process is part of the EMC E-Infostructure(TM) Interoperability Program, a series of exhaustive compatibility and reliability tests to ensure the interoperability of all the components that make up a multi-vendor EMC Enterprise Storage Network.

EMC Enterprise Storage Network environments are made up of Symmetrix(R) information storage systems and Connectrix(TM) enterprise directors that offer high performance, scalable capacity, continuous availability, and universal connectivity with unique data protection, management and data sharing capabilities.

JNI now offers five HBAs that are "E-Lab Tested" and approved for use in EMC Enterprise Storage Network environments connected to Solaris-based Sun Microsystems Enterprise servers, the most of any HBA manufacturer. JNI has supplied switched fabric SBus host bus adapters for EMC environments for more than five years.

"JNI's Fibre Channel HBAs have a long track record of providing mission critical, enterprise quality connectivity in EMC environments with Solaris platforms," said Chuck Hollis, EMC's vice president of markets and products. "We're pleased to incorporate the latest JNI Emerald-based SBus solutions for use with EMC Enterprise Storage Networks."

"JNI has become the de facto standard in EMC-Solaris storage networks by providing EMC customers with high availability, high quality switched fabric connectivity products for Solaris environments," said Neal Waddington, president and CEO of JNI Corporation.

"We now offer a variety of 'E-Lab Tested' single- and dual-port SBus and PCI host bus adapters at a variety of performance and price points. That is a testament to our commitment to providing the best storage network solutions for EMC and Solaris environments," Waddington added.

JNI offers three SBus and two PCI bus HBAs that are "E-Lab Tested" and approved by EMC for their Enterprise Storage Network environments connected to Solaris-based Sun Microsystems servers. In SBus, JNI offers the FibreStar FC64-1063, the FCE-1063 and the dual-port FCE2-1063. In PCI, JNI offers the single-port FCIN-1063 and the dual-port FCE2-6412. This variety gives customers a broad range of performance and price/performance choices for the Solaris environment.

JNI's FibreStar Fibre Channel storage adapters offer universal compatibility, and unrivaled quality and reliability within storage networks. JNI HBAs work across all Fibre Channel topologies -- switched fabric, arbitrated loop and point-to-point environments. Each JNI HBA is backed by a three-year warranty.
