International Space Station, the World's Largest
Orbiting Construction Project
Business Objects (Nasdaq:BOBJ), the world's leading provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, announced that The Boeing Company will use Business Objects as a tool for financial administration for the International Space Station. The Boeing Company, the largest aerospace contractor in the world, selected BusinessObjects(TM), the integrated query, reporting, and analysis solution for the enterprise. Boeing also chose WebIntelligence(R), Business Objects integrated query, reporting, and analysis solution for the web, to power its intranet, where authorized employees will view reports packed with the latest financial data. The products will be used within the Space and Communications Division of The Boeing Company.
The International Space Station is the largest and most complex international scientific project in history. The 16-nation cooperative endeavor currently has three crewmembers living onboard. The Boeing Company is NASA's ISS prime contractor, responsible for design, development, and testing the International Space Station.
"Boeing is another example of a company that understands the value of using business intelligence to look at costs and expenditures," said Dave Kellogg, senior vice president of marketing for Business Objects. "This principle applies to every industry -- whether you are a company that manufactures electronics supplies or consumer goods. Or for aerospace, to build one of the most complex structures ever placed into orbit."
