"Sun has a long history of working with Emulex to provide customers with a broad range of storage networking products," said Patric Chang, director, market development engineering, Sun Microsystems.
"Emulex's experience and product reputation in combination with the comprehensive resources offered by Sun, illustrate how the Sun Developer Connection(SM) Partner Program is the shortest distance between development (code) and sales (currency)."
The Solaris Ready branding program is designed to provide customers a recognizable symbol for tested Solaris platform solutions from third-party solution providers. To receive the Solaris Ready designation, products must complete a rigorous testing process conducted by an independent testing laboratory.
Products are evaluated for interoperability, platform support, Solaris platform compliance, ease-of-installation, driver compatibility and product documentation.
"Solaris Ready certification is a significant achievement because it demonstrates that our customers can easily connect storage networking solutions with Sun's robust line of servers," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing for Emulex. "We will continue working closely with Sun to certify and deploy highly scalable solutions for the enterprise."
The Emulex family of Fibre Channel HBAs, including the recently qualified LP9002DC, offers firmware upgradeability to protect customers' investments and a unique driver architecture that enables driver compatibility across Emulex's entire product line, which significantly reduces SAN management complexity.
The 2Gb/s dual channel LP9002DC offers high-performance channels on a single HBA, enabling greater SAN connectivity for PCI-based servers.
