IRVING, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2002

NEC America, Inc. today announced the addition of a continuous availability option for its IPHarvest data mediation software package.

This option will enable service providers to deploy IPHarvest in areas of business that require continuous uptime, ensuring 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation.

The continuous availability option is achieved by using specific computer hardware in connection with the standard IPHarvest software. This option is available for both the Solaris and Windows environments. The Solaris environment option is made possible through NEC's relationship with Resilience Corporation, which allows NEC America to resell Resilience's Ultra Series of continuous availability servers. The Windows option is available on the newly announced NEC Solutions (America), Inc. Fault Tolerant Server. Both environments enable service providers to easily deploy and support IPHarvest in mission critical application areas.

"We're delighted that NEC has selected Resilience's fault-tolerant servers as the continuous availability hardware platform for its IPHarvest Solaris offering," said Michael J. Maulick, president and CEO of Resilience Corporation. "By combining Resilience's patented Triple Modular Redundancy with its IPHarvest software, NEC offers a simple-to-manage and deploy solution that ensures non-stop capture and reporting of data -- a critical requirement for successful business intelligence."

"By offering this new availability option, NEC is enabling service providers to realize key benefits, including reliable revenue and profits, and reduced cost of ownership, without costly downtime," said Ken Dilbeck, Director of Software Development for NEC America's Network Management Division. "This essential element expands the areas of the business that IPHarvest can address."

NEC's IPHarvest data mediation software package collects event records then standardizes and aggregates the data before sending it on to other software systems such as CostGuard(R) from InfoDirections and/or Abiliti Solutions' EventProcessor(TM). By implementing IPHarvest, service providers can capture relevant usage and content information associated with new service offerings such as voice over IP, wireless content, mCommerce and video on demand. They can then feed this data to applications associated with network performance monitoring and customer relationship management to create attractive service packages, thus increasing revenue and profits from their existing infrastructure investment.

Additionally, the IPHarvest data mediation package has been certified by the Internet Protocol Detail Record Organization (IPDR) as meeting its IPDR 2.5 compliance standards. IPDR Compliant(TM) status identifies companies and products that have demonstrated the ability to exchange IP usage records that conform to the IPDR Network Data Management -- Usage (NDM-U) specification.
