LINDON, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2002
KeyLabs(TM), the industry's premier technology assurance solution provider, Friday announced two agreements with Sun Microsystems Inc. making KeyLabs the premier testing vendor for Sun.
The first contract is a labor services agreement signed by KeyLabs in order to expedite the contractual process between the two companies. This agreement, applicable to all divisions within Sun will streamline the sales process and enable immediate execution of work projects without additional work and prepricing contracts.
The second agreement is a strategic relationship between KeyLabs and Sun's Java development team. As part of this long-term agreement, KeyLabs has become an outsourced testing arm by providing Sun with an entire section of its lab facility strictly for compatibility and product testing of Java(TM) Software.
KeyLabs will serve as an autonomous extension of Sun by providing three full-time test engineers to work on projects directed by Sun. These projects will involve testing new builds of the Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) and will include test planning, automation, and execution, in addition to status, and analysis reporting.
Sun will draw upon KeyLabs' expertise and resources in an effort to maximize effectiveness and minimize costs for Sun. KeyLabs will execute testing and analysis of Java Software for up to one year under the signed agreement.
"This relationship with Sun is a natural step as we have performed Java software testing since 1996," said Mike Fahnert, president and chief operating officer, KeyLabs. "We have the ability to provide Sun with a `virtual lab' using our people at our test facility. Our unique infrastructure and flexibility allow us to respond to Sun's requests at a moment's notice.
"KeyLabs will literally become an extension of Sun's quality assurance department. We are excited about helping advance Sun's Java technology."
"KeyLabs has consistently delivered and provided the great quality testing methodologies and executions for Java Software," said Maitjian Welke, director of Java Platform Sustaining Engineering & SQA, Sun Microsystems Inc.
"This agreement is a further extension of our long and beneficial partnership with KeyLabs. Under the new partnership, we are able to test our software even more effectively, thanks to the additional expertise and dedicated hardware resources available to us from KeyLabs."
One of the primary reasons Sun Microsystems selected KeyLabs as an outsourced testing company was the unmatched depth and size of its large independent testing facility.
KeyLabs will be responsible for developing and improving Sun's testing methodologies while evaluating the processes and timelines agreed upon by the two companies. Together, the two companies will work together to improve the stability and robustness of the Java(TM) 2 Platform.
