Leading British IT Company Uses Web Portal to Manage
Channel Partnerships and Work Collaboratively to Sell
to, Service, and Retain Customers Worldwide
Siebel Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL), the world's leading provider of eBusiness applications software, today announced that Kinross Computer Systems, a leading British IT company, is achieving substantial revenue gains using Siebel PRM, MidMarket Edition, a module of Siebel Systems' Partner Relationship Management (PRM) solution designed specifically for small and medium-size businesses. The software is enabling Kinross Computer Systems to work collaboratively with channel partners worldwide to triple its annual revenues, enhance customer satisfaction, and reduce partner management costs.
The challenge for Kinross -- a small, fast-growing organization -- was to effectively market its new commodity trading software solution (KIT) worldwide. The company lacked the global reach to service customers around the world directly and chose instead to market the commodity trading package through local business partners. It needed an eBusiness solution that would support the entire process of managing these partners, deliver excellent service, and maximize revenues.
With Siebel PRM, MidMarket Edition, Kinross is automating the business processes between its global channel partners via a comprehensive Web-based partner portal. This approach allows the company to work collaboratively over multiple channels to acquire, service, and retain customers; maximize revenues; improve partner effectiveness; and manage its channel partners as extended virtual sales and service organizations. Using the "out-of-the-box" functionality of Siebel PRM, MidMarket Edition, Kinross was also able to deploy the software in just 30 days.
Lead and opportunity management is a critical component of the eBusiness solution. When a prospect is identified -- either by Kinross directly or by one of its global business partners -- the lead is automatically routed to the appropriate partner and managed effectively to closure. Detailed account information can be seamlessly shared between Kinross and the partner for effective, collaborative joint selling. Business partners can also access a knowledge base of frequently asked questions (FAQs) directly from the portal. Alternatively, partners can create service requests themselves for customers, which are routed directly to Kinross' support organization and tracked through the portal until resolved.
Kinross' eBusiness strategy also enables the company to manage the full life cycle of a partnership. Using the software, the company can automate the process of recruiting and certifying new partners. It can track all partner activities -- including new business opportunities outstanding with the partner, accounts, and individual service requests -- and analyze the relative performance of channel partners. For joint selling situations, the software enables Kinross and its partners to share key account and activity information in a secure, efficient environment.
"It would have been exceptionally difficult--if not impossible--for Kinross to achieve its anticipated sales growth without Siebel PRM, MidMarket Edition," says Graeme Leslie, CRM Consultant, Kinross Computer Systems. "The software provides a comprehensive solution for managing partners worldwide. Information flows seamlessly throughout the extended organization--from prospect identification to individual project management. The unrivaled functionality of the software and its rapid deployment capabilities are enabling Kinross and its partners to close more business, satisfy a greater number of customers, and treble annual revenues."
Kinross Computer Systems offers a complete computer solution including software, hardware, networking, eCommerce, training, consultancy, and ongoing support. The company's software portfolio includes a complete enterprise reporting system, eCommerce, customer relationship management (CRM), and full desktop productivity. The company is headquartered in Tayside, Scotland.
