PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 22, 2002
Tripwire, Inc., the Data Integrity Assurance Company, today announced that it has entered into a two-year, global strategic alliance with Visa International, the world's leading consumer payments brand.
The alliance will explore options for using Tripwires' award-winning products and technology to result in safer and more secure e-commerce and e-business initiatives for Visa member banks, merchants and consumers worldwide.
Tripwire products provide infrastructure management, control, and security by assuring the integrity of data and networking components across the enterprise. By monitoring for unauthorized change on servers and networking devices, Tripwire software significantly reduces the time spent firefighting and troubleshooting system problems, freeing up IT resources to deliver critical productivity enhancements. In addition to increased IT efficiencies, Tripwire provides a valuable means for change management, while establishing a critical foundation for overall security strategy.
"Tripwire and Visa share a vision of safe, secure Internet commerce, including the ability to conduct business safely within an enterprise, at home or at the point of purchase," said W. Wyatt Starnes, CEO, president and co-founder of Tripwire, Inc. "By working closely together to leverage each company's expertise, the substantial benefits of e-commerce and e-business may be maximized as the risks of fraud and thefts are minimized. We look forward to the opportunity to work with Visa to protect all levels of critical data."
"At Visa International we believe that infrastructure and data integrity are essential in maximizing the security, reliability, and availability of our systems," said Sarah Perry, senior vice president of Strategic Investments and Business Development for Visa International. "As the world's largest commercial processor of financial transactions, Visa understands the need for security at all levels of the transaction process, and are excited by the possibilities and proven track record that Tripwire brings to the table."
Tripwire's flagship product, Tripwire for Servers, has hundreds of thousands of active users and has received many industry awards. The product assures the integrity and security of data by notifying users if, when and how files have drifted from a known, good state. Additional products from Tripwire include, Tripwire Manager and Tripwire for Routers and Switches. Tripwire Manager enables secure, centralized management of enterprise-wide Tripwire for Servers installations. Tripwire for Routers and Switches, a data and networking integrity product, provides real-time detection and restoration of router and switch misconfigurations and attacks.
Billions of dollars are spent annually on Internet Security technology, including firewalls and network management tools, just to keep data available and flowing. Data and network integrity are at the intersection of the Internet security and network management markets. Internet Security is expected to be a $7 billion market by 2004. The Network Management market will be even larger at $12.4 billion by 2004. This relationship emphasizes Visa's belief that a powerful security strategy which includes Tripwire for data integrity assurance is essential for successful e-commerce, in both consumer- and business-oriented transactions.
