CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 2002
The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has named Mathcad(R) 2001 Premium the "Best Numeric/Database Application" business software in the 2002 Codie Awards, recognizing Mathcad's track record of success as the corporate computing standard for engineering organizations. Mathcad, an industry standard for technical calculation and applying mathematics, is deployed at 90% of the Fortune 1000 companies, more than 500 government installations, and at more than 2,000 colleges and universities. MathSoft, the maker of Mathcad, is the leading provider of interactive math, science, engineering and educational software products and content.
The Codie Awards showcase the software and information industry's finest products and services. Winners in other categories include Adobe Systems, Sun Microsystems, The McGraw-Hill Companies, Macromedia and BEA Systems. This year, 325 companies nominated more than 700 products. First round judging was completed by a broad panel of judges consisting of representatives from the industry trade press, mainstream technology writers and industry experts. Second round judging is based on votes from SIIA members. Member companies are provided one vote per company in each Codie Award category.
"It is an honor to be recognized by our industry peers and experts as the best that the software industry has to offer," said Chris Randles, chairman and CEO of MathSoft. "The software industry understands Mathcad's value for applying mathematics and providing a technical calculation environment that is optimized for engineering productivity, efficiency and innovation."
"SIIA congratulates MathSoft on the recognition of Mathcad 2001 Premium as a valuable tool for engineering organizations and as a leader in interactive mathematics," said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA. "The Codie Awards winners are the best of the best our creative and innovative industry has produced in the past year. The Codie Awards represent peer recognition of excellence. We congratulate all of the developers, designers and programmers that have had a hand in bringing such outstanding work to the market."
Mathcad enables engineers to create, communicate and collaborate on engineering documents and designs. Its patented whiteboard interface immediately returns or updates results, eliminating manual recalculation work. The software works as an interactive worksheet, using standard math notation and equation entry to solve problems so no programming is required.
Mathcad Client, another member in the Mathcad suite of products, is a low-cost deployment solution for sharing and collaborating on Mathcad-created content across and throughout organizations. Mathcad Client provides a publishing solution for sharing math on intranets, extranets and the Internet. Mathcad Client facilitates communication and increases productivity by providing the power to dynamically interact with technical documents and applications, including Mathcad worksheets and electronic books.
Additional electronic titles and Mathcad Add-Ins for all Mathcad users are available for free via download from the Library at www.mathcad.com, a Web site devoted to Mathcad users.
