PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2002
AXYS(R) Design Automation, Inc. today announced the expansion of its distinguished technical advisory board (TAB) with the appointment of Professor Sharad Malik from Princeton University, Princeton, NJ. Professor Malik brings a wealth of experience to AXYS Design's TAB, based on his research activities which include all aspects of electronic design automation, with special attention to the areas of design tools for embedded processors and the synthesis and verification of digital systems. Professor Malik is also a member of the executive committee of the Gigascale Silicon Research Center (GSRC), an organization involving leading US universities and performing long range, collaborative research addressing the challenges of chip design and the growing design productivity gap.
"The AXYS Design team is excited to have Professor Sharad Malik join our Technical Advisory Board where his broad knowledge and active forward thinking shall be important assets for the definition and implementation of AXYS Design's ongoing advanced research activities. He will also be actively involved in the synchronization of external research results relevant for AXYS Design. Personally, I am very happy to have the opportunity to closely work with Sharad again," said Vojin Zivojnovic, president and CEO of AXYS Design.
The mission of AXYS Design's TAB is to provide technical and strategic guidance in the context of the company's focus on advanced embedded processor and software development tools and solutions for high software content System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. The chairman of AXYS Design's TAB is professor Jan Rabaey from the University of California at Berkeley and incoming director of the Gigascale Silicon Research Center. Other members are James Spoto, President and CEO of Applied Wave Research, Inc., and Keith Bindloss from Bindloss Consulting.
"AXYS Design is a company with deep roots in system-level EDA research and whose development from a university startup to the recognized technology leader I have followed closely. Large EDA companies are revisiting their stance towards system-level design tools, which provides opportunities for highly innovative newcomers with great technology, like AXYS Design, to take over a substantial part of this growing market. I am happy to join AXYS Design's TAB during these exciting times and look forward to contributing to the further expansion of their strong technology and pioneering research," said Sharad Malik.
