AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2002
TouchSystems Corporation, in a move to advance its position in the touch PC market, today announced Scott Fehr as the new Chief Technology Officer.
Fehr will focus on technical strategy, including new product development, quality improvement and process optimization. Fehr formerly held senior-level positions with IBM and 3Com.
Fehr is replacing Gary Barrett, who moved over to Touch International with the sale of TouchSystems' components business in February 2002. Now, TouchSystems is exclusively dedicated to the design, manufacture, and distribution of all-in-one touch PCs, integrated touch displays and peripherals used in industrial, medical, hospitality, retail, military, education and kiosk systems.
Fehr, with a solid background in both hardware design and software development, has extensive experience in technical strategy; including production planning, systems performance prediction and analysis, workload assessment and performance modeling.
Fehr will manage technology strategy, oversee new product development, and optimize production quality and efficiency. Additionally, Fehr cited the development and implementation of a new, comprehensive customer service strategy as an important, short-term goal.
"Scott will play a vital role in keeping TouchSystems on a fast, efficient growth curve," stated Grieg Spidle, TouchSystems President, "taking the lead in keeping innovation alive, product quality high, and manufacturing processes efficient."
Fehr, a published author, holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelors of Science in Physics from the University of Texas at Austin. Fehr advanced to PhD candidacy in Computers Science/Electrical Engineering Computer Science at the University of California at Berkley, prior to transferring back to the University of Texas at Austin to complete his dissertation.
