NATCHEZ, Miss.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2002

Sumx Inc., an electronic banking solutions provider for the financial industry, a 37 percent-owned subsidiary of Britton & Koontz Capital Corp. (NASDAQ:BKBK) and the technology supplier behind Diebold, Incorporated's Internet banking initiative, announced today that Sumx CEO and Britton & Koontz First National Bank EVP, Bazile R. Lanneau, Jr., will be featured in the American Bankers Association (ABA) US Banking 2002 online conference, the only comprehensive online banking conference in the United States.

As part of ABA US Banking 2002, he will discuss the importance of successful integration between Internet banking systems and host systems and the benefits and risks associated with this for bankers.

ABA US Banking 2002 will be hosted April 1-12 on an interactive Web site, www.aba-usbanking2002.com, where participants can "virtually" attend. Lanneau's presentation, "The Role of Host Systems in Internet Banking" will be available on the site beginning Friday, April 5.

"A fundamental issue for all bankers that are currently offering, or planning to offer, Internet banking services to their customers is the level of existing dialogue between their Internet banking system and their bank's host system," said Lanneau. "The success of a bank's Internet banking initiative is often dependent upon the amount of useful data that is accessible through the host system. Like most things, however, there are successful and unsuccessful methods that exist in establishing the relationship between these two systems and my presentation will detail the necessary fundamentals for identifying and following a clear path for success."

Bazile Lanneau is president and CEO of Sumx Inc. and is responsible for managing Sumx and marketing SumxNet, the company's Internet banking solution. He has more than 20 years of experience in the community banking industry and also serves as executive vice president of Britton & Koontz First National Bank, where his traditional responsibilities have been financial management, trust and operations. He is a member of the ABA Policy Advisory Board, has been featured in leading banking and technology periodicals, including American Banker and US Banker, and has lectured at numerous programs for bankers and trade associations including The Federal Reserve and the FFIEC Information Systems and Technology Conference.
