FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2002
Covansys Corporation (Nasdaq: CVNS), a global consulting and technology services company, announced today that it has been awarded the contract to offer HIPAA education to the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council's (MCHC) member organizations. MCHC is a membership and service association composed of more than 130 health care organizations working together to improve the quality of health care in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Under the terms of the agreement, Covansys will provide qualified subject experts to deliver HIPAA education, which will be offered by MCHC to its more than 130 member organizations located throughout the Chicago area. These member organizations include hospitals, physician groups, nursing homes, outpatient treatment centers, medical schools, and other healthcare organizations.
The initial course will be offered in April 2002, and the education programs will continue through December 2002. As a result of this engagement, MCHC will fulfill its goal of providing cost-effective, quality, timely HIPAA training to its members. The HIPAA education provided by Covansys will include four course offerings:
-- HIPAA Overview: Awareness and Action -- Learning the Ropes: Privacy and Security -- Establishing an Effective HPMO -- Defining Organizational Impacts
"MCHC is pleased to offer our member organizations Covansys' expertise in HIPAA education. We selected Covansys because of their vast knowledge of HIPAA education, and of HIPAA, overall," said Michelle Holtzman, director of MCHC's Revenue Management Solutions department. "This training is essential, as federal regulations require that all healthcare entities ensure their workforces receive HIPAA education. MCHC is pleased to offer member organizations a simple and cost-effective means to comply with this enormous mandate."
"Covansys has an unwavering commitment to developing efficient, cost-effective HIPAA solutions for our current and prospective clients," said Mark Gross, senior vice president of Covansys' Global Health Practice. "As the compliance date for HIPAA approaches, healthcare institutions are looking to organizations such as MCHC for help in meeting the regulations. We are pleased to enable MCHC to offer its member organizations quality HIPAA education."
Covansys, a market leader in the healthcare and HIPAA consulting markets, was named among the nation's top 10 HIPAA consultants in HIPAA Survey 2Q01 Results: Spending and Consulting Use, a September 2001 Gartner Group report. Covansys is a premier resource for healthcare industry leaders, and has supported numerous healthcare entities in conducting HIPAA awareness training and implementation, and meeting individual technological demands.
