MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 2002
Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq:SNPS), the technology leader for complex integrated circuit (IC) design, today announced the appointments of Howard Ko as vice president of Asia-Pacific Sales and James Eun as country manager for South Korea. The new team members are working closely with customers and Synopsys executive management to provide state-of-the-art electronic design automation (EDA) solutions and professional services to the growing Asia-Pacific electronics industry.
Dr. Ko joined Synopsys via Avant! where he was the executive operating officer responsible for worldwide operations. As vice president of Asia-Pacific sales, Dr. Ko oversees Synopsys' operations, sales, support and marketing programs in the Asia-Pacific region. His leadership includes ensuring Synopsys customers have easy access to the wide array of Synopsys EDA solutions by managing and growing the sales channels in the region. Dr. Ko is an industry veteran with more than 17 years of EDA experience in research and development and management, and a PhD in circuit simulation technology from the University of California at Berkeley. He is based in Synopsys' Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan.
Dr. Ko takes over the position held by Gerd Schlitt, who is moving to Synopsys' Mountain View, California headquarters as vice president, strategic business development. Mr. Schlitt has a special emphasis on emerging markets in Asia and continues to play an important role in the region as Synopsys focuses more attention on key foundry relationships, non-traditional business models, and strong university programs in China.
James Eun comes to Synopsys from KPMG Consulting where, as partner for high tech and communications, he specialized in providing full service consulting for Fortune 500 clients. He oversaw corporate strategies and operations, as well as business re-engineering and financial services for his clients. As country manger for South Korea, Mr. Eun oversees the local sales, support and marketing organizations. He is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing long-term strategic relationships with key industry executives and product design managers at major semiconductor and electronic systems manufacturers in Korea. Mr. Eun is located in Synopsys' Korea headquarters in Seoul.
"Synopsys has been doing business and building relationships and in the Asia-Pacific region since 1990. A region with such growth opportunity requires hands-on executive experience to ensure full, localized support for Synopsys customers and partners," said Chi Foon Chan, president and chief operating officer at Synopsys. "Howard Ko and James Eun have that experience. They will ensure that our Asia-Pacific customers have access to Synopsys management and to the multitude of training, support, services and product resources necessary for creating leading system-on-chip (SoC) designs."
