SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2002

Capability Eliminates the Need to Carry Additional,

Email-Specific Devices

Kyocera Wireless Corp. and Wireless Knowledge, a QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM) company, are working together to deliver a comprehensive mobile email solution based on the new Kyocera 7135 smartphone and Wireless Knowledge's Workstyle(R) Desktop Edition software.

The combined solution allows business professionals to wirelessly access their email, calendar and contact information using the new Kyocera 7135 smartphone. This new mobile groupware offering is designed to meet the needs of the growing number of mobile professionals who find themselves out of the office, but still need to remain connected to critical information.

"Our goal in creating converged devices like the Kyocera 7135 smartphone is to eliminate the burden of carrying multiple, function-specific devices," said Stan Scheufler, vice president of marketing and product management at Kyocera Wireless Corp. "In working with Wireless Knowledge to provide a comprehensive wireless email solution for our newest 3G CDMA device, we believe we have made pager-like email devices unnecessary."

The Workstyle Desktop Edition enables Kyocera 7135 users to wirelessly synchronize their email, calendar and contact information between their mobile devices and their desktop PCs. Users can control the synchronization process through simple rules and store the data locally using the 7135's standard PalmOS(R) PIM applications. Synchronization can be on a set schedule or wirelessly triggered when the user receives new information. In addition, Workstyle provides users with the freedom to access their groupware information in real-time Internet browse mode using a PC or Web kiosk. Workstyle Desktop Edition is easily installed onto a desktop PC providing support for Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes.

"Business professionals have come to rely on the effective management of critical corporate information such as email, calendar and contact information, and need a way to access this information quickly and conveniently," said Eric Schultz, chairman and chief executive officer, Wireless Knowledge. "The Kyocera 7135 with Workstyle Desktop Edition represents an innovative and complete mobile solution that provides users with the freedom to easily connect to the corporate data they demand most."

The Kyocera 7135 smartphone is the latest converged device from the company that launched the smartphone category. The Kyocera 7135 combines a full-featured CDMA wireless phone and the Palm OS(R) v4.1 with 16MB of on-board memory, all in a lightweight clamshell design. It offers the complete functionality of the latest Palm(TM) handhelds, supporting thousands of applications written for the Palm OS platform. In addition, the Kyocera 7135 smartphone features a 65,000-color screen, an MP3 player, GPS locator technology and an MMC/SD expansion card slot for added memory and specialized applications.

The Kyocera 7135 also incorporates a speaker phone, voice-activated dialing, silent vibrating alert, graffiti and stylus, two-way SMS text messaging, Eudora(TM) email and three modes of Web access (Web Clipping, WAP and HTML). It measures approximately 3.97 in. x 2.43 in. x 1.17in (100.8 mm. x 61.6 mm. 29.7 mm.) and weighs 6.6 ounces (186 grams), providing up to 3.5 hours of talk time and up to 160 hours of standby time in CDMA digital mode.
