IVAX Corporation (AMEX:IVX) (LSE:IVX.L) announced that its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Phillip Frost, M.D., and its Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Thomas E. Beier, signed and filed unqualified certifications with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) today attesting to the accuracy of the company's financial statements. The certifications are in the precise form specified by the SEC and cover IVAX' 2001 Annual Report on Form 10-K for the year ended December 31, 2001, Form 10-Qs for the first and second quarters of 2002, reports on Form 8-K filed since the Form 10-K and the 2002 proxy statement dated May 31, 2002. Dr. Frost and Mr. Beier have also provided the certifications called for by Section 906 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 in IVAX' Form 10-Q filed today with the SEC.
